Tawheed is the belief in the oneness and unity of Allah.Although it is summarised as"There is no God but Allah"the phrase has far greather significance than the literal translation implies."Allah is greater than anything else,or anything which can possibly be imagined' would be closer to the real meaning of "Tawheed"
The concept is expressed by Allah Himself in the Qur'an as say:,,,He,Allah is one.Allah is He on Whom all depend. He begets not,nor is He begotten. And none is like Him,,,(112:1-4)
Comparing Allah to other Gods or humans claiming to represent Him is again rejected by Muslim as the unforgivable sin of "Shirk".The importance given to the sin of Shirk originates in the mission of Muhammad
(and Muslim would say all the prophets)to the pagans known as"The Associators'(musrikun)
